Showing up unexpectedly in a statement dress is one of my favorite fashion moves. It never matters to me whether the occasion calls for such a look, but rather how confident wearing the dress makes me feel.

As soon as I saw this vintage-inspired Haute Hippie dress, I was taken by its long train, lace detail, cap sleeves and delicate buttons. To keep the look from feeling too saccharine, I paired the lingerie-inspired dress with my best-go-to black leather Mackage motorcycle jacket and a scene-stealing pair of pointy red Louboutins.

For accessories, I layered two necklaces, balancing a dainty piece with a harder, chain lariat. Lastly, I accessorized with my grandmother’s black onyx and gold bangle, an ivory purse with a gold chain and a vintage pair of Chanel sunglasses.
