mix it up.

One fun trend popping up just about everywhere this season are patches.  These whimsical embroidered designs add an element of frivolity to jackets, jeans and even boots and backpacks.  Designers from Marc Jacobs to Mui Mui added patches to their Fall 2016 runways looks.  If your on the creative side, considering purchasing patches off the internet or at your local craft store and added them to an old jean jacket or pair of jeans.

For today’s look, I opted for this olive green military-inspired shirt jacket by Cinq A Sept and paired it over a teal velvet bodysuit from Zara with a flowy print skirt from Saloni.  I like to contrast the military feeling of the jacket with the more feminine quality of the skirt and add the texture of the velvet bodysuit.

As I mentioned in my texture overload post, I am a huge proponent of mixing textures and prints.  Don’t be afraid to use an animal print shoes as a neutral and mix it unexpectedly with a floral.

For accessories, I chose these stunning Sophia Webster booties with glitter leopard print and a silver Chanel boyfriend bag.
